American LaFrance New Home Site Buzzing with Activity

The new home site of American LaFrance’s new headquarters is

buzzing with activity; slabs have been poured, and wall panels have been erected. Staying on their schedule, American LaFrance intends to have machinery moved to the new facility by mid-May and product and employees moved in by
June 1st .


American LaFrance Changes Headquarters’ Site; Remains in Charleston Tri-County Area

American LaFrance, LLC announced today that its new corporate headquarters and state-of-the-art emergency and vocational vehicle assembly plant will be built along Interstate 26 in Berkeley County, between Summerville and Jedburg.

Previous plans to relocate on property adjacent to the Charleston Southern University campus in North Charleston were revised when the company and the site’s design-build developer were unable to finalize the deal in a time frame that would permit timely completion of the new plant. The delays made it necessary for the company to seek a new location in the Charleston Tri-County area.

American LaFrance, LLC announced today that it has selected the site for its new corporate headquarters and state-of-the-art emergency and vocational vehicle assembly plant. The Company plans to lease approximately 45 acres adjacent to the Charleston Southern University campus at U.S. Highway 78 just off I-26 in North Charleston from a design-build developer. Comprised of affiliates of Clayco Realty Group, Inc., Venture One Properties, LLC, Landmark Enterprises, Inc., and First Commercial Investments, LLC, the developer will oversee design

On September 7, 2005, Freightliner announced that they were going to sell American LaFrance. That announcement has been interpreted many different ways and generated several rumors in our industry.
